Logistics industry breaks through "Internet +"

With about 15 million large trucks, more than 30 million truck drivers, and more than half of China's land freight volume, China's massive logistics industry is relying on "Internet +" to accelerate transformation and upgrade and high-quality development.

"The logistics industry has become the best incubator for new technologies, new models, and new formats. The energy of science and technology as a catalyst is being fully demonstrated." Hu Yadong, president of the China Transportation Association, said at the forum, especially the new Internet represented by "Internet +" The deep integration of technology, new models, new business forms and the logistics industry will further empower the development of the logistics industry.
 
For many years, due to the low threshold, China's freight market has been an over-competitive, inefficient, fragmented, and under-informed market. Traffic expert Cai Yuhe said that in the long-term extensive development, the road freight industry has accumulated more contradictions, and the low efficiency of transportation organizations and the high unit transportation costs are still "shortcomings" that need to be completed.
 
As an important part of the logistics industry, the road freight market is huge. Statistics of the logistics industry of the Chinese Internet of Things show that in the first three quarters of this year, the total social logistics in the country was 215.9 trillion yuan, which was an increase of 5.7% year-on-year in terms of comparable prices. The growth rate was 1 percentage point lower than the same period of the previous year and 0.4% lower than the first half percentage point. The prosperity index of China's logistics industry averaged 52.1%, which was in the expansion range for 7 consecutive months.
 
In the first three quarters, the total cost of social logistics was 10.2 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 7.5%, a decrease of 1.1 percentage points from the same period of the previous year and a decrease of 0.5 percentage points from the first half of the year. The ratio of total social logistics expenses to GDP was 14.7%. Although it fell 0.1 percentage point from the whole year of 2018, it increased by 0.1 percentage point from the same period last year and the first half of this year. Since the beginning of this year, the weak profitability of enterprises in the logistics industry is still prominent, and the difficulties and pressures for the development of the industry are greater. The logistics industry is a composite service industry integrating transportation, warehousing, freight forwarding, and information industries.
 
According to experts, the scale of the insurance market for operating trucks is nearly 200 billion yuan. But for a long time, insurance companies have only been able to roughly distinguish the risk costs of vehicles based on such factors as vehicle type, vehicle series, brand, tonnage, and service life. They also cannot understand and intervene in driving risks in a timely manner, which makes the operation of truck insurance business embarrassing.
 
Cai Yuhe believes that in the future, new formats and models such as "Internet +" should be fully utilized to promote the intensive integration of "multiple, small, and scattered" freight resources, and accelerate the promotion of industry transformation and upgrading and high-quality development.

The first financial reporter noted that innovations and changes in the logistics field have been favored by the capital market. On October 30, Zhongjiao Xing Road WeChat Public claimed to be "a new round of financing, the investor is Sunshine Insurance". The financing will be used to strengthen the company's investment in big data and artificial intelligence. Yu Xingyuan said that at present, the Ministry of Transport is deepening reforms to promote cost reduction and efficiency gains, structural adjustment to promote green development, network freight forwarding to promote innovative development, vehicle model standardization to promote safe development, and driver home to improve the environment for truck drivers.
